Back With A Vengeance

{Seems this trend is bleeding through the years. This 80's trend which I'm sure was a staple in your closet then, is back. Can't help but fall in love with this trend, which to my surprise looks anything but dated. I enjoy that it can be a laid back look with a t-shirt, as seen below on Ashley Tisdale. It can be worn chic, as Ashlee Simpson-Wentz wears it, Fierce thanks to Rihanna, and Beyonce, and Nicole sticks to her guns with her bohemian interpretation. All totally reinvented. Best part is, the JET jean by John Eshaya is valued at $188.00 a pair.}

Spa Day

{My hair and skin can get so out of whack during fall and winter months. My just-cleaned hair, greasy at the roots, dry and mangled at the ends. Skin, seems to be dry here, oily here. My mom used to make these home remedies being the hippie she was. Sometimes it's so nice to have a spa day in your very own home. Here's some recipes she would whip up.}

1/3 cup oatmeal
1/3 milk
Directions
blend evenly, use as a face scrub.
{Almonds are full of vitamin E and, the milk can be used to exfoliate dry dull skin.}
Honey Mask For Oily Skin

Avocado Hair mask

(From top left, Tinsel Bellini, The Cointreau Tesse, Lillypad, and The Warhol Crush.)

{Me and the girls like to play around with cocktail recipes, I think it's so fun to get everyone together and start mixing. Start by getting your usual suspects (gin, vodka, rum, tequila ext.) then get all the basic additives, think (cranberry juice, pineapple juice, lemon juice, lime juice ext.) add some fun decorative items such as (cherries, orange slices, lemon or lime rings, gummy bears, flavored sugars or salts for the rim, ext.) Here are a few that we may just have to test out, or add too! As you can tell it's been a long day at the office if I'm researching drink recipes. But hey, a girl can dream.}

We Are Headed South Of The Border For Dinner Tonight

Roasted White Corn Quesadillas
{Here's a awesome recipe for quesadillas, the corn is such a simple yet essential add, and these are vegetarian. Yummy.}

Ingredients
1/4 cup chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, minced
1/2 lime, juiced
1 cup sour cream
3 ears white corn on the cob
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 jalapeno, seeded and minced
1/4 red onion, diced
1/2 cup black beans
2 Roma tomatoes, diced
2 tablespoons diced roasted red bell peppers
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
6 tablespoons freshly chopped cilantro leaves, divided
6 ounces Jack cheese, shredded
6 ounces Cheddar, shredded
8 medium flour tortillas

Directions
Preheat grill to high. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
Mix diced chipotle, lime juice and sour cream, and refrigerate for 1 hour.
Over medium flame or on a grill pan, roast corn. Let cool and cut kernels off cob.
In a medium saute pan over medium-high heat, add olive oil, jalapenos, red onions, and black beans. Saute until the onions are translucent. Add the tomatoes, corn kernels and roasted bell pepper. Stir and saute for 3 minutes and add salt, pepper, cumin and 3 tablespoons of cilantro. Remove the pan from heat and let rest.
Evenly distribute mixture, the remaining cilantro and cheeses among 4 tortillas. Top with remaining tortillas.
Place tortillas on a baking sheet and place in the oven. Cook for about 10 minutes, until cheeses have melted and the quesadillas are warmed through. Cut each into 6 pieces.
Serve with chipotle sour cream

Fringe With Benefits

FRINGE BAGS

{It's slightly nostalgic for me. My very first purse was a bright pink suede, fringe, and beaded handbag from the late 80's that my Mother had passed down to me. It may be the hippie girl in me, who really knows. All I can say is I want the following as a result.}

Tight With The Trend

Texture, embellishments, studs, prints, all great additions to the classic ballerina tight. I think these are so cute under ripped and holy jeans, paired with suede booties, or sweater dress and thigh high boots. Here's some looks From Megan, Blake, Hillary, and Rihanna.

And here's to your right hand man.......

Matte finish polish. I can't believe this trend hasn't really surfaced before now! I remember in the 90's when that crackling, sparkle, and glitter polish was the new innovation in nail lacquer. This, I think is so sleek and different. I'm totally crushing on the "Lincoln park after dark" shade. From top left, Russian Navy, Lincoln Park After Dark, You Don't Know Jacques!, Alpine Snow, La Paz-Itively Hot, and Gargantuan Green Grape. A few notes, it is suggested not to use a base coat or top coat, and to avoid hand lotion or cuticle oil to prolong and maintain matte effect.

The Fall Line Up

I am originally a small town girl from Colorado. In Colorado, actual seasons can be felt to the bone. Scarf’s, hats, and winter coats are a necessity in the often frigid weather. Now that I reside in Newport Beach California, the familiar clothing translates more as a comfort food for me. With the temperature dropping, I can't help but feel all warm inside. Here are a few things I'm lusting for this fall.

I'm loving sweet flowing scarf’s, thigh high boots over skinny jeans or paired with a mini, fingerless gloves I find adorable, plush hats, and big gaudy costume rings to pull it all together.

Attitude Of Gratitude

OK so my father instilled a very simple concept when I was young girl. He would simply ask "Kelsea, now is the glass half full or half empty?". Now it's obvious what the correct answer is to that question, however I clearly remember looking up at him completely perplexed. Why is this important? Actually, I find it essential. Today that phrase just embodies my general look at everyday life. A simple question I'll ask myself to stay in check if you will. So how does my glass stay half full, amidst bad dates, long days of work, stubbing a toe, loss of something treasured yaddah yaddah? Well, I'm so glad you asked. I was going through a rough patch mourning the death of a relationship. I was seemingly negative pessimistic and bitter. It must have been written all over my face, because I was told to begin writing a list of 100 things I'm grateful for whether it be big or small. This was kinda difficult at first (as my life was obviously so over) but as I started doing it every night before bed. it became a subconscious, and it's something I tend to practice daily. I'll start listing things in my head or scribbling on a napkin. my life is now as bright as I make it, and it's been blindingly awesome since that day.
My List Now
1.my new blog
2.pumpkin spice latte
3.ten minutes and counting till I get to start my treck home
4.highlighters to doodle with
5.dinner date with the fam
6.cold beer in my fridge
7.no work until 3pm tomorrow
8.sunset
ahh.....time to hang my hat now.....night.....

Day Uno

Well let's see, I am new to the blog scene. Now What has inspired me to now start this blog is the countless hours I spend at work squeezing any ounce of life I can through this right here screen. I thought "hey I read enough blogs why not start my own" right? In fact I almost feel it's through these folks and there writings, that I can keep my sanity sitting here trapped behind my big fancy desk. It does seem ironic that I don't already have my very own blog. I do journal quite often in the privacy of my own home. Blogging seems to be similar enough. So here's to my new blog. Felt like a good day to start one. My very own place, for my very own ramblings. Awesome.
